About Me

head shot“When I know better, I do better.”
~ Maya Angelou

This is one of my favorite quotes and the focus of my approach to wellness.  When we know better, we do better.  It really is that simple. My goal is to encourage you to discover the best solutions for your life, and not to settle for anything less. You’ll be glad you did.  I know I am.

My journey started a long time ago. At 18 years old I experienced debilitating anxiety and panic attacks.  At the time, there was no medical explanation for why this was happening to me.  Looking back, the answers seem perfectly clear now. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

Too much responsibility, too much to do and a limited support system sent my health on a downward spiral. Rather than look at my situation as a single parent trying to raise a child with limited income and not a lot of resources, I looked to the conventional route for a cure.

But it was not to come. My doctor prescribed an anti-anxiety medication, but it had the reverse effect for me.  Somehow, I just knew this wasn’t the answer and I was determined to find out how I could get my life back.

What I didn’t know then was that my gut health was compromised and my hormones were so unbalanced they were causing symptoms of depression, anxiety, excessive worrying, inability to loose weight, insomnia and adrenal exhaustion.

After 10 long years of searching, at the age of 28 my path crossed with a holistic practitioner.  Using a combination of holistic therapies, together we were able to sort out my decade long diagnoses of anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.

As a life long learner, I’ve spent most of my years since then accumulating knowledge, and using it to help others. I’m a graduate of Northeastern University (go Huskies!), The Renaissance Institute of Classical Homeopathy, Teleosis School of Homeopathy, Acupressure Therapy Institute, and became a fully accredited Integrative Health Coach through The Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Teacher’s College, Columbia University. I am also a proud member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

In 2007, I left my corporate job of 18 years and began my practice with the intent of sharing what I’d learned with other women who were struggling with similar issues. And in 2014 I signed up to be trained to Teach the Hormone Cure by Dr. Sara Gottfried after reading about her success with helping over 20,000 women get their lives back with balanced hormones.

Balance is something I strive for everyday. I’m passionate about my work, but I’m a wife, mom, and grandmother (the girls call me Mimi!) first. I try to remind myself every day that the work will wait, but lost moments with family can never be recaptured. It’s not always easy, but well worth the effort!

In addition to my family, we also have two dogs — Romeo (who believe it or not is camera shy!) and Sharky (isn’t he cute?) — who crave attention and love to snuggle on the couch with me.

I’m a big fan of green smoothies, juicing, yoga, dark chocolate, and I adore my Mini Cooper.

That’s me. But what about you?
