Bach Flower Essences
The healing power of flowers was discovered and studied extensively by Dr. Edward Bach (1886-1936). His training was as a British physician, surgeon and bacteriologist. Dr. Bach theorized that the dew that collected on plants had healing properties.
During his lifetime, Dr. Bach discovered 38 flower remedies and grouped them under seven headings (roots of emotional imbalance):
Insufficient interest in present circumstances
Over-sensitivity to influence and ideas
Despondency or despair
Over-care for the welfare of others
The purpose of these remedies, or essences, is to support the person’s fight against illness by addressing imbalances and emotional factors.
Similar to homeopathy, flower essence therapy is based on water molecules taking on the essence of the flowers. Specific flowers or plants are added to water, steeped in the sun or boiled until the petals wilt and then the mixture is strained. What remains is water that now has the energetic imprint of the flowers. The flower water is then preserved and administered based on the unbalanced emotions presented by the client.
“According to Dr. Christiane Northrup, “The positive changes that can be expected from using flower essences include feeling more confident and creative, experiencing more joy, being more forgiving, forging better relationships, having more clarity and focus, and even cultivating a deeper connection to your Higher Self.
When you use flower essences, anything that doesn’t match the vibration of a chosen essence simply goes away. For example, if you are experiencing fear and anxiety and you use a flower essence with a calming or joyful vibration, your awareness of that calm and joyful feeling is raised, and the feeling of fear (which is a lower vibration) dissipates.”
Emotional release is not a side effect; it is a direct effect. We want negative emotions to be released.
